Dozens of students Wednesday injured in forces actions in different parts of Kashmir during protests demanding capital punishment involved in Kathua’s rape and murder victim.

Reports reaching that tear gas shells, Pava shells and baton charge was carried out against students protesting the heinous crime against little girl of Kathua. Reports said two policemen were injured in clashes with students of the Awantipora Islamic University of Science and Technology in Pulwama district. In a handout police said that “Today morning a peaceful protest was taken out at Anantnag which was allowed by police and district administration. Subsequently some miscreants indulged in stone pelting & turned violent and tried to enforce forceful shutdown in Anantnag town.” Police has request citizens not to fall prey to any speculations and rumours which are intended to disturb peace. And we seek their cooperation for maintaining order.

Meanwhile condemning the use of force on students, both the factions of Hurriyat in separate statements told that termed the current political situation in Jammu and Kashmir as highly volatile and gruesome in the garb of excessive use of brute force to calm down the genuine slogans for the right to self-determination raised by the people of Kashmir, especially the youth belonging to the third generation of the suppressed nation. The moderate faction of Huuriyat said using force against students protesting the crime instead of providing them space and opportunity to express their feelings and put up their demands as is normal elsewhere is extremely unfortunate and reflects the vengeful mindset of the authorities.
